After looking for a career change, Siobhan ended up back at UHI Perth as a mature student with a goal of upskilling and expanding her existing skillset.  With thanks to our Food Studies department, she is now successfully running her own business. She chatted to us about her experience.

Administration and management jobs exist in all industries, in both the public and private sector, so these graduates are always in demand. The number of administrative and secretarial employees in Scotland has increased from 246,800 in December 2023, to 251,200 in March 2024.*

This contemporary degree programme is unique in Scotland as it combines academic study in food, nutrition, textiles and education with vocational training as a teacher in secondary schools within the four-year programme of study.

The New Opportunities team at UHI Perth work closely with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to maximise student opportunities for education, employment and training. The team also works closely with PKC, Mindspace and with other curriculum areas across UHI Perth to deliver the best learning experience for each individual student.

The current policy from The Scottish Government to increase free early learning and childcare entitlement to all, shows a real commitment towards making Scotland the very best place in which to grow up. This year’s Graduation and Celebration of Achievement ceremony, held at the Perth Concert Hall on Thursday 3 October, saw over 300 graduates and award winners presented with their degrees, diplomas, certificates, and awards. ❤️
