Introduce yourself: your name, where you are from, etc?
I’m Emma Stewart and I’m from Perth.
What course did you study at UHI Perth, and in what year did you complete your studies?
I studied MBA Business Administration (Executive) and completed the course in 2024.
Why did you decide to pick this course?
The course looked interesting, and I was looking for a qualification to support my career pathway.
What was your favourite thing about the course?
I really enjoyed the fact that the modules were interesting and relatable to my work.
Were there any standout/memorable moments from your course?
My dissertation focussed on organisational change and leadership. Putting the learning into practice to achieve this assessment took months of hard work and it felt fantastic to complete it.
What knowledge, skills and experience did you gain from your course that will help you in your current or future employment?
The modules were closely aligned with key areas of business which meant they were relatable to my job.
What did you think about the styles of teaching, and the support you received from staff?
The staff really support their students and appreciate that most people who take this course also have work and life commitments. The modules and resources are well organised, on the online learning platform. Regular online meetings with the class and lecturer ensure that you can ask questions and understand the assignment briefs.
Are you currently employed?
I’m the Schools/College Partnership Coordinator at UHI Perth. I coordinate our Schools College Partnership to ensure young people have the opportunity to access UHI Perth courses as part of their school timetable.
How did you find juggling a full-time job alongside your studies?
Taking this course while working full time was challenging but it is manageable with a bit of determination! The lecturing team are really supportive and aware of students’ other commitments. Tutorial sessions usually happen in the evenings and the lecturing team were really flexible to meet at other times as needed. Doing this course alongside a job is helpful because a lot of the learning can be related to current projects and challenges within the workplace.
Do you feel that your studies will help you to progress your career?
Yes, this course will support career progression, especially the modules focussing on strategy and leadership. I feel this qualification is a great asset to my CV.
Where would you like to go with your career in the future?
I’d like to progress to a leadership role in the future and achieving the MBA will support me with this.

I really enjoyed taking this course and had a positive experience studying with UHI Perth.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about studying at UHI Perth?
Definitely do it! Speak to the staff, they are so helpful and will make sure you take the course which is right for you.
