I am an apprentice joiner and currently in my second year of the course.

What were you doing before you came to college?

I was working nightshift at the Pitlochry Coop, throughout the pandemic.

Why did you decide to pick this course?

What is your favourite thing about the course?

I have found the support and encouragement of the tutors to be excellent and this has inspired me to push myself and achieve the best I can.

During the pandemic, how did the style of teaching change? Were your lecturers supportive during this time?

Although my course started after the height of the pandemic, there have been several changes to college life with the introduction of at home learning through Brightspace. The tutors make themselves available and are very helpful to assist with any queries or questions I have had. I have found that working from home has improved my confidence and independence.

Has there been any standout/memorable moments from your course?

I have thoroughly enjoyed creating full scale models of joinery practices.

Any other achievements you have gained on your journey?

I can take all that I have learned at college and apply it to my working day, which gives me a feeling of accomplishment.

What do you like about the campus?

The workspace is very open, spacious and has all the relevant tools required. The tutors are extremely helpful and supportive.

Yes. I also like its close proximity to Pitlochry, which is ideal for travel arrangements.

Music, dog walking, gym, and the Retained Fire Service

What are your plans, for after you finish your course?

To continue in my current place of work, as RW Bell have given me enormous encouragement and support through my role and in sponsoring me for the Retained Fire Service.
