Staff Spotlight: Sam Monie

Staff Spotlight: Sam Monie

Whilst we are all adapting to home learning/working, we thought that we would catch up with some of our staff members to find out more about them - and see what they have been up to during lockdown! This week, we catch up with a familiar face from around campus.

Tell us about yourself

I’m Sam Monie. I started life in Muthill and went to primary school there until age 12, when I moved to Crieff and attended High School at Crieff High. At 16, I then went on to Perth College UHI for 4 years - becoming a Decorator (Interior Designer). Aged 20, I then went on to travel around the world – ending with working and living in Germany, before finally moving to London for the best part of 15 years. I now live in Perth.

A fashion designer.

If you were a super-hero, what type of powers would you have?

The power to fly.

First thing you would do if you won £1 million?

Get a tattoo of the date.

Who, or what, inspires you?

Fred Dibnah was a great inspiration as a young kid.

What is the best advice you have ever received, and who did it come from?

Go see the world - from an older friend when I was 17.

Happiest memory?

Waking up on the beaches of Goa on Christmas Day.

And most embarrassing?

Falling asleep behind a best mates wedding cake (a bit tipsy).

Do you have any advice for students who may be struggling during this difficult time?
