With the Winter well and truly upon us, it’s time for all drivers to ensure they their cars are ready for any eventuality and that they have the necessary equipment to deal with an emergency situation.

Giving his top 10 considerations to keep you safe for winter driving is David Stewart,  Sector Manager for Automotive Engineering.

1. Have the condition and pressure of your tyres checked (including spare)


2. Keep your washer bottle full and ensure it has an appropriate additive (check temperature additive temperature rating)

3. Make sure your all your lights and number plate are cleaned regularly


4. Check oil and water levels
and anti-freeze concentration

5. Keep a high-viz

6. Make sure your wipers are in
good condition or renewed

8. Have some warm blankets in the back seat

and de-icer in car


10. Keep your break down cover up to date


Before you set off on a journey check the Met Office website for any weather warnings, and Traffic Scotland for incident and road closure updates.
