Graduate Spotlight - Fiona Ivetic

Having just graduated in October; we had a chat with Fiona to hear about her experience at UHI Perth ⬇️

Can you introduce yourself?

Fiona Ivetic, born in Australia, but I grew up in Scotland.

What course did you study at UHI Perth?

BA (Hons) Literature and Sociology.

How did you hear about UHI Perth?

I found UHI when I was looking at courses I could study and liked the options they offered.

What were you doing before you came to UHI Perth?

I did a Highers’ course.

Why did you decide to pick this course?

Literature and Sociology were both subjects that I was really interested in, and this course gave me the opportunity to study both rather than having to pick one.

What was your favourite thing about the course?

I liked being able to join in discussions with other students that challenged and inspired me.

Were there any standout/memorable moments from your course?

Finishing my dissertation and receiving good feedback about it.

What knowledge, skills and experience have you gained from your course that will help you now that you have graduated from UHI Perth?

I’ve learned a lot of new knowledge from the modules chosen via my course. I’ve learned better time management and ways to find information as well as becoming more assured of the merits in my own theories and work when receiving feedback.

Were your lecturers supportive during your studies?

All my lectures were supportive, but Kyle Smith was a great help with my dissertation and throughout his modules.

Any other achievements you have gained on your journey?

Greater confidence in my ideas.

What do you like about the campus/facilities?

The library system was extremely helpful for my studies

Did you enjoy studying at UHI Perth? Any highlights?

Yes, this was a wonderful experience for me due to the lecturers and students.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of your studies?

It’s always nice to enjoy a cup of tea and a good book or go outside for a walk and enjoy the nature.

What are your future career plans now that you have graduated?

I’m taking a year to work while looking at all the available options for Masters.

And finally, what advice would you give to someone thinking about studying at UHI Perth?

Do not be afraid to ask for help from lecturers or staff members and connect with other students.
